Jalepeno Poppers

Added on August 16th, 2012 by our friend from http://keirstenskitchen.com

Cooking Steps

Prepare the bacon either on the stove top over medium heat or in the oven at 400 until about 3/4 cooked
While the bacon is cooking, cut and remove the seeds from the peppers
**You will want to use the gloves– it burns!**

Place the halved peppers in a baking dish, as pictured below
Bake at 400 degrees for approximately 10-15 minutes
(The longer you cook them, the softer and less spicy they will be…)

Stuff the peppers with goat cheese and wrap with a half of strip of bacon
Bake at 400 for 6-8 minutes
Let cool a bit and enjoy!

  1. cheese is not paleo if you’re going 100%, however…

i used to make these before going paleo, and i used cream cheese. the gloves for the jalapenos is a very good tip, i did it without and for almost a WEEK my fingers were burning. NOT FUN!!

An alternative to this could be stuffing the jalapeno with a puree of vegetables and/or ground meat, or just doing bacon wrapped dates. :)

  2. True about dairy, but many “primal” eaters include it. Bacon wrapped dates are delicious, indeed, but have lots of sugar… which can be ok if you’re active. If you’re not active, mixing sugar and fat isn’t the best idea.

  3. I use chunks of chicken breast seasoned with Penzey’s Ruth Ann’s spice in place of the goat cheese. It’s really good. I’ve also used shrimp in place of the chicken.

  4. Once you’ve seeded the jalapenos, rinse them under cold water – the bite will come right out and you’ll be left with the most delicious taste!

    Hi Firends!!
Eating quality dairy is purely a matter of individual tolerance. This is something almost everyone now agrees on, so if you buy good dairy, and tolerate it well, then it’s “paleo” for you, if it’s not, then it’s not. We have a dairy/non-dairy sorting option on our Recipes page to accommodate everyone :) ~James

  6. I didn’t halve the peppers I cut maybe a thrid or less of it so it was more of a cup, for the filling I used left over meat sauce and topped it with one thin slice of raclette chesse (about the size of a paperclip) then wrappred it in the bacon. They came out DELISH! DH loved them

  7. These are VERY tasty! I came back to find the recipe but the search didn’t work. It’s spelled wrong should be Jalapeño

  8. Seriously people, every time there is a recipe that calls for cheese you feel the need to POINT OUT that it isn’t “paleo?” REALLY???????
