Kevin’s Famous Chocolate Chili

Cooking Steps

Set your slow cooker to the low setting.
Add all ingredients to slow cooker and stir well.
Cook on low for 8-9 hours, until meat is cooked through.
Shred meat with a fork before serving.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs beef stew meat
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 4 jalapenos, diced
  • 2 cans diced, fire-roasted tomatoes, drained
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup gluten-free stout beer (optional, but incredible)
  • 2 cups chicken broth (can sub beef or vegetable broth)
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon 2 tsp cumin 1 tsp coriander 2 tsp cayenne pepper Salt and pepper to taste

  1. This was pretty tasty! I expected to taste the cocoa but didn’t really. Either way… It’s a delicious recipe.

  2. This sounded like it could be good so I tried it. In a word, gross. I didn’t like it at all and won’t ever make it again.

  3. Agree. We didn’t like it. Perhaps the beer gave it a bitter taste. I’m not sure but we didn’t eat it.
