Mixed Veggie Naghetti

Added on August 14th, 2011 by our friend

Cooking Steps

Over medium heat, melt oil in a large saute pan. Add onions and garlic, sauteeing for 2-3 minutes. Add ground beef and stir, breaking up the meat and cooking it evenly. Add sauce, turning heat to low and allowing the mixture to simmer.

While the sauce cooks, add a small quantity of water to another saute pan (~1/4 cup). Bring the heat to medium-high and when the water starts to boil, add frozen vegetables. Cover with a lid and allow vegetables to steam for ~5-10 minutes or completely defrosted and the vegetables are heated through. Drain off any excess water.

Plate 1/3 of the vegetables and top with meat sauce. Top with fresh grated Parmesan or Romano cheese if desired.

If you’re wondering what naghetti is (pronounced ‘naw-gety’), it is “Any food(s) used as a substitute for traditional wheat/grain based pasta. Typically a preparation of low-starch vegetable(s) that can deliver sauce from fork to mouth.

Example- Tonight I am having naghetti with meat sauce.”
