Everything I’ve ever read about crockpot cooking has specified ground beef should always be browned/cooked before using in the crockpot. Other whole cuts of meat do not have to be cooked. I honestly am not sure why and I haven’t really researched the subject further.
P.S. – I made this chili recipe and it was delicious! If you’re concerned about using stock, you could probably substitute it with water. Be sure to watch the ingredients on the stocks and the chili powder!
Fabulous chili, browned the beef before, cuts down on cooking time. I will be making again! T
