Crock Pot Short Ribs

These smelled so amazing while cooking! They taste amazing, too!

NOTE: There is a lot more sauce in this recipe than is shown on the picture.

Ingredients

  • 2-3 lbs beef short ribs
  • 1 tsp salt & 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 Tb bacon grease
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • ¾ cup red wine
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • ⅓ cup honey
  • 1 tsp. Tabasco
  • 1 jar (7 oz.) tomato paste
  • ¾ cup beef stock
  • ¼ cup GF Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ cup Coconut Aminos
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced

Method

Step 1

Season short ribs with s & p.

Step 2

Brown in a hot pan w/bacon grease.

Step 3

Remove ribs to slow cooker.

Step 4

Sauté 1 chopped onion.

Step 5

Add remaining ingredients to pan and bring to a boil.

Step 6

Pour over ribs.

Step 7

Cook on low for 8-10 hours or if short on time like I was, on high for 2 hours, then low for 4 hours.

    This was awesome. I added some sweet potato and served it over some spaghetti squash. That added a little bit more substance. Awesome!

    Is there anything I can substitute for the coconut aminos? Even a non-paleo replacement? I don’t know if I’ll be able to find it here (Regina,SK).
